A native Idahoan, Dr. Chris Cannon grew up in a small town outside of Boise. Growing up with 9 other children in the family, Dr. Cannon learned a new meaning of the phrase “survival of the fittest.” This competitive edge became helpful in high school where after a nearly undefeated season he finished 2nd in the Idaho State wrestling championship. After high school and an LDS mission to Los Angeles California, Dr. Cannon attended Utah State University. There he received his undergraduate education, but more importantly, that’s where he met and fell in love with a stunning redhead named Kendra who somehow agreed to marry him. They now have four amazing children who all love to travel and see new places together.
Dr. Cannon received his doctoral degree from the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. As one of the very first dental schools, Temple has a long and distinguished history making it one of the preeminent schools in the country. Since graduating in 2007, Dr. Cannon has cultivated a strong passion for constant learning. In the past 3 years alone, he has achieved over 500 hours of continuing education. At the same time, he earned Fellowships with both the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS). He’s also continuing advanced training in dental implants.
In addition to his commitment to stay up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry, Dr. Cannon strives hard to take the stress out of dentistry for his patients. Knowing fear is the most common reason patients avoid proper dental care, Dr. Cannon completed extensive training to become certified in I.V. sedation. Sadly, only 4% of dentists in North America are able to offer this wonderful service for their patients. For those who fear “the shot,” Dr. Cannon has developed techniques for delivering the most comfortable numbing injections possible. It makes his day every time a patient comments, “That was the easiest shot I’ve ever had!”
Doctor Cannon loves being a dentist and is happy to welcome you to your new dental home.
