Details About our Amazing Services

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is a unique approach to helping people get the dental care they need without the fear or anxiety associated with many dental services. The patient, under sedation, will not be unconscious, will be breathing without assistance, and can even communicate-but will feel no anxiety or pain during the procedures. Some patients do not even remember their procedures! The sedation lasts for about 2-6 hours depending on the patient and how long their procedures may take. The patient’s vital will be closely monitored and the patient will never be left alone. Safety and the health of our clients is our Rexburg dentist and staff members number one priority. Sedation dentistry is recommended for our patients who may experience the following:
  • High fear or anxiety about dental visits
  • Difficulty getting or staying numb
  • Gag reflex issues
  • Extremely sensitive teeth
  • Complex dental problems
  • Limited time for dental care
Sedation dentistry is also ideal for patients who are fearful of needles and shots and who may have sensitivities to the smells, tastes, and sounds associated with dental care. Sedation dentistry is covered by many insurance plans. If you feel like you need sedation and your insurance does not cover it, we may be able to help you with a financing plan so you can get the anxiety and pain free dental care you need!

Nobody likes a root canal. Even the name is dreadful. However, our Rexburg dentist at Comfort Care Dental can perform them with the least pain and discomfort as possible. Root canals become necessary when the roots of teeth become infected. To save the tooth, the infected nerves need to be removed. A dentist will drill out the nerves, clean out the ‘’canals” and then fill them with gutta percha, and then put a filling in the tooth and preferably also a crown. Through local anesthetics and pain medication will help you get through this with almost no pain during and with very little after. While a root canal is still unpleasant, it’s a lot less scary at our office!  We also offer sedation during a root canal so you can "snooze" through your appointment.

Partials, Dentures, Implants and Bridges

If you are missing teeth, you may not be as confident with your smile. Our staff and dentist in Rexburg at Comfort Care Dental want you to feel comfortable with your smile, so we offer a comprehensive array of choices to fit every smile and budget. Depending on your situation, you could benefit from partials, implants, or dentures. Partials and dentures can and will be removed from the mouth for cleaning, etc. Partial dentures are ideal when you have very few teeth missing, or not all of your teeth need to be removed. They are similar to a bridge, but are not permanent appliances. You can take them out and put them back in. Dentures are replacements for all of the teeth on the lower or upper jaw, or both. They are designated as either conventional or immediate:
  • Conventional Full Dentures refers to the practice of the removal of all of the teeth, then a period of healing before the mouth is fitted for the new dentures. This could take up to a month, but the dentures will fit nicely right away if you don’t mind not having teeth for that month or so.
  • Immediate Full Dentures refers to your mouth being measured for dentures and the dentures fabricated before the teeth are removed. As soon as the teeth are extracted, the dentures are fitted into the mouth. You will not go without teeth, but the dentures will need to be refitted after the jaw and mouth heals from the extractions.
Dental Implants are permanent. They are a little more time consuming but aesthetically pleasing and can look and feel like real teeth. A screw will be implanted into your jawbone where the new “tooth” will be placed. This will need to heal for 3-6 months to allow the jawbone to grow around the implant and anchor it in place. A temporary crown will be placed in the gap until the implant heals. At that time, an “abutment” will be attached to the implant and a permanent restoration “tooth” will be attached to the abutment. It will look like your own tooth. Bridges also replace lost teeth but with more permanence than a partial or dentures. Our Rexburg dentists can help you decide what choice or combination of choices is best for you and your smile!

Crowns are a relatively easy way to keep your teeth even if they have some issues. Cracks, decay, weakened fillings and teeth weakened by root canals can all benefit from a crown. A crown is simply a “cap” or “cover” cemented over your real tooth to protect it from further damage and to make your smile fabulous again. A crown takes 2-3 visits to make and seat. First, our dentist will be filed down and reshaped so that the crown will fit snugly over it and also fit in next to your other teeth. You will be given a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. At this time a mold will be taken of your tooth and mouth and sent to a lab where the crown will be made. A temporary crown made of plastic or some other material will be placed over the shaven tooth. When your crown is ready you will return to the dentist to have the new one “seated” which means fitted and cemented in. The new crown will restore your smile and should last at least 10-15 years. Crown material can be porcelain, porcelain covered metal or gold, depending on your preference and budget. Our Rexburg dentist will help you choose the best one for you!
